Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” LAS VEGAS SHOW RESIDENCY CONTINUES ON in the “Modern Showrooms Las Vegas” at Alexis Park Las Vegas Hotel.
Music icon Neil Diamond is one of the most successful and beloved singer/songwriters in pop/rock music history.
Besides being one of the top-selling and most successful live artists ever, he’s also created and performed the songs of a generation — including some of the most unforgettable songs on the planet.
In early 2018, shortly before his 77th year, Neil Diamond retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
However, Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences throughout the world through longtime Las Vegas performer Rob Garrett, known as America’s premier Neil Diamond tribute performer.
Ask Alexa “who is America’s number one Neil Diamond tribute artist,” and you’ll get the same answer.
Like his musical hero, Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.
In the spring of 1974, his parents relocated from New York City to Las Vegas, where, two years later, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him multiple times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett formed his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before making the move from lead singer of a cover band to a full-time tribute performer dedicated to one of his musical idols.
In 1995, Garrett was hand-picked by Paul Revere (of The Raiders) to portray Neil Diamond in the “Legends in Concert” show in Honolulu, Hawaii.
What was meant to be a limited run turned into a long-term hit show.
By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another two years before deciding to create his own tribute production.
He began a busy tour circuit, building a devoted fan base along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Las Vegas.”
He continues to sell out theaters nationwide, often in venues fit for superstars.
Garrett has also won numerous awards, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since Neil Diamond retired, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in this year, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has played in more Vegas rooms than any peer.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only active Neil Diamond tribute production in America.
The Alexis Park Resort is located at 375 E. Harmon Ave., about a quarter mile from Paradise Road.
